Overview
Quiz Instructions
For each question requiring a written response, cite the material in course readings that you use to answer the question in your own words. Be specific in citation(s) as to page(s).-- if page numbering is not visible in eTEXT, be sure to cite the chapter and sections shown. Clearly citing the appropriate material is a major part of success on this for scoring purposes.
Expectations:
- Write in clear, professional, and grammatically correct prose, demonstrating authentic writing consistently.
- Avoid unnecessary repetition and filler content.
- Cite sources properly (for example, instead of simply referencing Wall Street Journal, provide the full citation for the specific article)
- Ensure the work is entirely your own—do not rely on a collection of copied and pasted quotes, even with proper citations.
- Address all of the question prompts fully
- Maintain a natural, academic tone. For example, do not write in an overly formal style like:
"Now, we shall turn our attention to the increasingly indispensable role of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) considerations within the contemporary investment paradigm."
Instead, aim for clear, direct language that effectively communicates your ideas.
Authentic writing for a college student should be clear, well-organized, and show original thinking. It doesn’t have to be overly complex, but it should be thoughtful and demonstrate an understanding of the topic. A good college-level writing style:
- Uses a natural but professional tone– Avoids being too casual but also doesn’t try too hard to sound sophisticated.
- Is concise and to the point– Avoids unnecessary words and filler.
- Shows critical thinking– Engages with ideas, provides analysis, and supports points with evidence.
If you use ChatGPT, Bard, or any other AI platform for any part of this, clearly state which one(s) you used and explain how you used it/them. Failure to do so will be considered academic misconduct, even if discovered after the final course grade has been submitted.
For ratio calculations: If you are accustomed to using an equation (formula) for any of the referenced financial ratios that differs from the equation (formula) presented in the referenced table of ratio descriptions in this course's textbook, you are welcome to add that calculation to your answer, but do not skip presenting the calculation in the way indicated in the referenced table of ratio descriptions.
